
Kindergarten classes come to the Computer Lab one period per
week. Mrs.
Pickerill’s class comes on Monday, Mrs.
Thacker’s class on Tuesday, and Mrs. Vittetoe’s class comes to the lab on Wednesday.
Kindergarten works through our technology curriculum, TechKnowledge. This curriculum includes the following

In addition to TechKnowledge, students will work in a variety of
software programs to practice computer skills including keyboarding, mousing,
and opening/closing files and programs.
These programs will also reinforce many of the skills students are
learning in their classrooms.
Software that kindergarten uses includes:
Microsoft Paint – encourages creativity
Microsoft Word – for beginning word processing
skills
A to Zap – letter/sound practice
Madeline Kindergarten – patterning, counting
& number recognition; letter/sound skills, painting
Big Thinkers Kindergarten – letter/sound,
patterning, measurement, classification, identifying likeness and differences,
problem solving, beginning reading
Type to Learn, Jr., New Keys for Kids
– Keyboarding
Kindergarten students will have experiences on the Internet, as
well. They will learn how to
navigate around a web page, use the back button, add to and use a Favorites
list and explore activities within a variety of websites.
