Literature & Composition

Course Outline & Information

 

This course provides students with in-depth studies of great literary classics, both pre-twentieth century and contemporary. The literature represents a broad variety of genres and multicultural voices. The primary textbook to be used is The Prose Reader 5th edition. Wolfe City high school will furnish the book. Selections of literature are grouped according to various common traits: author, theme, or periods. Full-length works will at times need to be purchased by the student. I will help to locate the books for the best price. This page will offer web links to resources that the students can to access for further references to literary works.

The writing component consists of a wide variety of genres, academic and casual. Students are expected to produce written responses to their readings at least twice a week.
