Mrs. Cathy Samples
This is my 10th year at Wolfe City I.S.D. I always wanted to be a teacher due to my compassion for others. Everyone does not learn or understand at the same rate. I was determined to be "that" teacher to help struggling students. I taught 1st grade here at Wolfe City for 6 years. This is my 4th year teaching Dyslexia and with Reading Recovery training everything has come full circle. I understand so much now about the joy in beginning reading and understand the struggles of the older students. I feel that each trial and error has made me a stronger ally for each student. I teach "Dyslexia Rock's" so far Samples Student's are rocking ribbons for fun competetitions in UIL and a Dyslexia Advantage Karina E. Young Writers Award. I have raised the bar on reading for my dyslexia students. My students competed in our first Learning Ally Great Reading Games last year and placed 69th and National Rank of 167 out of 1,210 schools. We start our #GRG19 games 01-07-2019.
I grew up in Greenville, Texas and have made Wolfe City my hometown. I have lived here for 33 years with my husband Stanley. We have 4 children Shawn, Shane, Shannon and Adam. All have graduated from Wolfe City and played every sport, band, FFA, group or church activity, I bet we have done it! Shannon loved Wolfe City so much that she came back and is teaching Kindergarten. My oldest grandson Scott graduated from Wolfe City and is serving in the US Navy in Japan. I have a few more grandchildren at the elementary Lane, Lainey, Evie, Paisley and Stihl. It is amazing to watch your family learn, but it is really a blessing and honor to be able to teach your own grandson and granddaughter.
I have a few more grandchildren that I wish were in Wolfe City Schools, but they attend in Greenville; Sadie, Sawyer and Sloan, Seth in White Wright and Rayleigh in Sherman.
